Anew Christian Retreats

Welcome to our Anew Christian Retreats, a haven created with care for those seeking rest and a deeper connection with God in a serene and picturesque setting.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to create the ideal space for the Holy Spirit to minister to you, bringing restoration and rejuvenation to your body soul and spirit.

Held within the charming Harmony House in Stillingfleet, York, Anew Retreats offer an unparalleled escape. Harmony House, with its rustic red brick, holds a rich history dating back to the 17th Century. This house is a unique blend of old-world charm and modern facilities, once serving as a coaching house and even housing the local post office. Its historical ties to St. Helen’s church in Stillingfleet are woven into its very walls, with the guest lounge having been used as the church’s reading room. In the 18th Century, the top layer and front turret were added by local landowers, the Prestons of Moreby Hall, who also contributed Moreby Chapel to our village church.

You’ll be surrounded by miles of tranquil countryside in a peaceful oasis, yet just a short drive from the vibrant and historic city of York.

Harmony House has undergone meticulous renovation to cater to modern-day comforts, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment where you can truly unwind and, most importantly, reconnect with God.

Our intimate venue ensures a personal experience, with a maximum retreat guest occupancy of 8. This design ensures you have ample personal space to foster a meaningful spiritual journey with the Lord during your stay, whilst also facilitating connection with others during your stay.

We invite you to discover, rediscover and deepen your relationship with Jesus amidst the beauty and tranquility of Harmony House. Come and experience a unique retreat like no other.

Winter-themed Anew Retreat:

This is the season where everything slows down, stops growing and goes into hibernation and rest. It’s a season of great beauty with dramatic landscapes and skies, frost and snow.  On the surface things can look a little barren, even harsh, but underneath everything is just sleeping, conserving energy for the wakening warmth of spring. In life, a winter season might represent a tough time, barrenness, maybe a little loneliness and even helplessness at times, but also a stillness and rest.

A time to thank the Lord for His rest, a time for contemplation and reflection. How will you find rest and recuperation at this time? If things feel a little bleak right now, what’s He doing and preparing you for beneath the surface?

Can you see the beauty in this landscape?

Spring-themed Anew Retreat

This is a season of both rebirth and new birth. A season when plant life bursts forth through the earth, animals seek their mates for procreation and birds prepare their nests. Everything quite literally ‘springs’ to life.  Flowers begin to bloom and the snows thaw and melt away. Things are new and fresh, days are becoming warmer, but it can still be a little wet and windy. In life, a spring season might represent new things, growth and development.

A time to thank God for new life and to seek Him for the new thing.  What might the Lord be birthing in you and through you at this time? Is there something that’s been lying dormant in you, that He now wants to bring out into the open?

Can you smell the freshness of new adventures as the last season melts away?

Summer-themed Anew Retreat:

This is a season full of life and promise, bright and colourful, with everything in full bloom. Things birthed in the spring begin to grow and mature. Warmth and abundance abound and life flourishes and the animals thrive. It’s also a season for planting and sowing seeds. There are still a few winds about to scatter those wild seeds too. In life, a summer season might represent a time of blessing and provision, when everything feels joyful and we have an abundance to share with others.

A time to thank God for His abundant blessings that He lavishes upon us.  His mercy and grace abound! How might He bring you to maturity? Where will the Lord have you plant? What will it be – will you sow something quite specific or perhaps widespread?

Can you feel His face shining upon you?

Autumn-themed Anew Retreat

This is a season of harvest and provision. Farmers gather their abundant harvest of fruits, nuts and grain into their storehouses and the animals begin to gather up food in preparation for winter. There is still a bright and crisp day here and there, but days are becoming more wet, grey and foggy. Colours become deeper and richer all around as the trees yield their leaves in readiness for winter’s rest. In life, an autumn season might represent reaping from our labour, provision and preparation for change.

A time for thanking God for His provision and asking what He might want to prepare in you for the next season. Are you ready to yield yourself to Him? Are there things that might need to die back and fall away?

Can you hear the rustling of preparation that will be deeper and richer than ever before?

Our retreats are exclusively designed for adults, offering a haven for small groups and solo guests seeking a peaceful getaway. Whether you’re looking for a revitalising escape with friends or a transformative personal retreat, we have created an experience tailored to your needs.

Choose one of our retreat packages for a full-board experience that leaves no detail overlooked. Enjoy boutique ensuite accommodation that ensures your comfort and privacy throughout your stay. From the moment you arrive, we will take care of you, with delicious home cooked meals and refreshing soft beverages. We understand the importance of catering to dietary preferences and offer vegetarian and vegan options upon request.

I attended the Autumn seasonal Anew Retreat. By far this is the most inspirational, gentle, loved-on ( both Holy Spirit and also our host Adele, helped so graciously by Heather) Christian retreat I have been to. Nothing was too much trouble; food and comfort of room, environment was amazing and Harmony House has the most welcome and affirming atmosphere. I cannot recommend this space, place and hosting highly enough…whether you simply want an exquisite, comfy base from which to explore or whether you are seeking solitude, space and an invitation to retreat from the noise and busyness of life. Wonderful!

Autumn-themed Anew Retreat 2023

Our stay at Harmony House proved to be a time of refreshment and relaxation. Rather than opting for just taking a few days away my wife and I chose to participate in one of the occasional retreats Harmony House provide

The attention to detail was appreciated, the accommodation very comfortable indeed, the food excellent and the hosts enchanting.

I would highly recommend Harmony House to anyone looking for a comfortable location to explore the area in general; but to anyone needing time and space to reflect on life and faith, I cannot commend Harmony House enough for creating an oasis for body, mind and soul. Thank you Adele & Ros

Winter-themed Anew Retreat 2023

What a delight is Harmony House and her owner, Adele. I went for one of the seasonal retreats offered here and left feeling blessed and enriched and filled with joy. We could not have been more looked after, from our beautiful rooms and small thoughtful touches, to delicious meals and much fun and laughter. It had it all in abundance. This is a special place and it is a must for others to visit and experience all the delights also!

Summer-themed Anew Retreat 2023

I want to personally thank you for your wonderful hospitality during my
discovery retreat stay at the Harmony House.

Wish I was still there, after returning home  today! It has given me great insight and
information I was looking for. It has been a pleasure from start to finish! 100% loveliness throughout. It felt peaceful and relaxing, and
the itinerary helped me to process and know what to expect.

I would honestly say to anybody that is looking to discover more about God and feel relaxed and comfortable in superb company, this is the retreat to visit.

Kindness and lots of fun along the way.
