About Me

Welcome to My Corner of the World

I’m Adele, and I’m excited to give you a glimpse into my life and journey to becoming the proprietor of Harmony House.

I grew up in Huddersfield as the eldest of four children in a loving family. I now have two grown daughters of my own – Fern and Gioia. Fern and her husband Jon live in Mexico, while Gioia lives near my parents back in Huddersfield with her husband Mat and my darling grandson Austen and gorgeous granddaughter Breia.

My mother’s family originates from York and we have Freeman status here.

I’ve had a varied career path over the years. I started my own business doing freelance hairdressing and makeup artistry at 19, and still work today as a Trichology Consultant and Expert Witness in my not-so-spare time! I’ve also worked in fashion and modelling on cruise lines, managed an international fashion boutique, and obtained certifications in counselling, hospitality excellence, and as a licensee.

In 2001, I became a Christian, which reshaped the direction of my life. In 2003, I opened a debt counselling centre with Christians Against Poverty (CAP). That experience led me into 18 fulfilling years with them in various roles, including leading retreats. Leading these short breaks sparked my passion for hospitality and in part led me here to Harmony House.

I also planted and pastored Anew Home Church in Huddersfield until moving here in 2019.

Outside of work, I have enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including dressmaking, walking, drawing, reading, dining out, ceroc dancing, singing in a community choir, travel, sailing, and horses! As a teen, I owned an ex racehorse. I now co-own three racehorses – La Pulga -here in North Yorkshire-, Treasure Time & Golden Maverick (we’ve just retired Jolly Nellerie)- how fun!

I’m actively involved locally as a member of the PCC at St Helen’s Church, the Methodist chapel and the Stillingfleet WI. I’ve made wonderful friends in this village and feel incredibly blessed to be here.

In 2018, I started exploring pastel pencil art. I’ve included the sum-total of my work so far – let me know what you think!
